A great opportunity for an enthusiastic Youth worker for the Weller Centre, this post concentrates on the delivery of an imaginative youth programme for children and young people by developing co-operative relationships with local organisations.
Activities will include sport, culture (music, photography, film and drama), health and discussing issues such as knife crime, bullying or drugs. You will act as a point of contact for young people by offering advice, support, coaching and counselling or mental health assistance.
The ideal candidate will have strong organisation skills and possess excellent interpersonal skills as the postholder will be interacting with a diverse cross section of people.
You must be a self-starter, able to manage your own workload and have the ability to achieve through a team. You will keep calm under pressure, be empathetic and customer focused and be able to deliver on all commitments to Centre users.
You must have a driving licence and an interest in sport and healthy living.
Experience of working with young people/children in challenging social environments whilst complying with Health & Safety & Safeguarding systems is essential.
Hours are flexible including evenings and weekends.
Pay £13.84 per hour

The Weller Centre is a thriving local community centre in North Reading and we need someone to lead the provision of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and activities.
You will ensure the safeguarding of the children, work with SEN and promote a diverse and welcoming setting. You will demonstrate a working knowledge of EYFS and evidence of implementing good quality learning opportunities.
You will work closely with key partners and stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, funders, statutory bodies and voluntary sector agencies.
The ideal candidate will have strong organisation skills and good communication skills as the postholder will be interacting with a wide cross section of people. Empathy and understanding of children under 5 years of age is essential.
You must be able to manage your own workload, be a team player, keep calm under pressure, be customer focused and be able to deliver on all commitments to Centre users.
You will need Level 2 or above in Childcare Learning & Development, Paediatric First Aid and experience of safeguarding.
Pay £12 per hour
